So today I am continuing my study in Genesis. I am reading Genesis 4-7.
Chapter 4 brought me some insight that I had not thought about, yes there is a lot of genealogy in this chapter, but it also shows how even though Cain murdered his brother God still showed HIS mercy for him. In our society today we think a man kills his brother, he should die too am I wrong? The passion we have for our family runs deep, so deep that rational thinking goes straight out the window. The conversation with God that Cain has was remarkable. Even back in the very beginning the human race could not comprehend that God is all knowing. He was gracious and gave him a distinctive mark and sent him out of Eden, and that mark would protect him from anyone harming him. Then we have Lamech who took a couple of wives, because in Cain's new land it was OK to go against Gods sacred marriage law, and thought because he killed someone out of self-defense that God would automatically save him and keep him protected. After all he was just protecting himself. But who is to say that one person can know the value of another person's life. But repented Adam and Eve bore another Child in place of Abel who will be the seed that which Jesus Christ later comes through. Even in Adam and Eve's disobedience to God, he had mercy on them and granted them a Godly son that redemption would be restored through. In chapter 5 it lists the genealogy from Adam on down to Noah. I am amazed and a little taken back by how long these people lived. It reads in the notes that they lived that long because this was pre-flood Earth. Meaning that the vegetation and animals from before the flood had the nourishment to uphold life for these long periods of time. Enoch is one of only two men that God took into heaven while he was still alive. The other is Elijah. Methuselah was the longest living man recorded. He died the year of the judgment flood. In Chapter 5 it reads about how mankind has become corrupted. The sons of God came and took wives, whichever they chose. But I was unaware that these sons of God were actually non-human, fallen angels, and disrupted the Godly order. Then it speaks of 120 years which was the time designated by God for man to repent from his wrongdoings and respond to God's calling, because the Spirit would not always be patient. God did not like Earth or the people on it. The only living thing he found favor in was Noah. Noah built the Arc and was instructed to take food for himeslf. I never realized just how EXACT the dimensions for the Arc had to be according to God. But the hardest thing for me to grasp is just how faithful Noah was. This is a man to follow. He did not question, and did not ask. He just built. And in chapter 7 the Flood came. It lasted a total of one year and ten days from the time the flood started to the time that Noah stepped onto land again. AMAZING! And God spared his life because he walked with him! I want to strive to be like this. Trust that God has my back 100%. He is faithful and just every time. Whatever decision he makes is perfect. How I long to trust him 100%. I will continue to learn what he has for me on a daily basis. His plan he will reveal to me as I go, for I know that if he were to tell me my whole life plan, the flesh in me would be trying to alter it someway, shape, or form to make it "better" Thank you God, for giving me knowledge just for the time that you allow, for you know the evil desire of man's heart. I want my heart to be for your will and your will alone.
Until Tomorrow - Amen
